Synopsis

Helena, a young girl from the Italian hills goes to Naples to wait for her fiancé, who has recently gone to America, to send for her. While there, she falls prey to a "terrible woman" and to a count, Tochetti, who rapes her. The count then gives the girl enough money to go to America to meet her fiancé, but a short time later, the young man dies after toiling in the coal mines of Pennsylvania. The girl then goes to New York and meets a wealthy Italian lawyer who falls in love with her and helps her to return to Italy to avenge herself for the wrong done to her by the count and the woman. Although the lawyer discovers that his uncle is the count who they are seeking, he still helps his sweetheart, and after her vengeance is complete, he takes her back to America to start a new life.
