Synopsis
Tom Grant, a Texas Ranger detailed to investigate contraband activities on the border, captures "One Shot" Morgan on his way to find Simeon Kraft, a smuggler. Learning that Kraft is not acquainted with Morgan, he impersonates the outlaw, and en route he rescues the smuggler's ward, Jane Drew, from a runaway horse. Farrel, Kraft's chief aide, receives Tom with suspicion, while Kraft also suspects him and sends for information about his confederate. Kraft, who is deathly afraid of a stray police dog, traps the dog and is about to kill him when Tom interferes. Tom is exposed as an imposter and overpowered by the gang, but the dog, remembering Tom's kindness, enables him to escape. The gang makes a break for the border, but Tom and the dog upset their plans, and the rangers arrive in time to arrest them.
