Synopsis

Lady Falkland, the American wife of Sir Archibald Falkland, is forced to accept the presence of her husband's mistress Lady Edith while they are living in Constantinople. Lord Falkland plans to dispose of his wife by placing her in a compromising situation with Prince Cerniwicz and then forcing her to sign papers which admit adultery. Lady Falkland is in despair when Colonel Loring, her old sweetheart, appears and demands the papers. Falkland refuses to give them to him, and in the ensuing struggle he is killed. Loring is arrested for the murder but is later pardoned by the head of the Turkish police, an old friend. He returns to Lady Falkland, and the couple finally discover the right to love.
