Synopsis

Ida, a mining-camp girl, marries young engineer Gregory Compton, and they move to his ranch in Butte, where he is prospecting for gold. She complains bitterly of the lonely life, and when Ora Blake, a wealthy young widow, stops at the ranch she sympathizes with Ida and at the same time captivates Gregory. With Gregory's consent Ora takes Ida to Europe. There Ida's horizon expands, and she wins the love of Lord Mobray. She soon tires of European society, however, and yearns to return to Gregory. News arrives of Gregory's discovery of gold, but the perfidious Ora changes the wording of Ida's cabled reply so as to make her appear mercenary. Returning to Butte with Ora--crestfallen to learn of Greg's bitterness concerning their estrangement--Ida learns from Lord Mobray of her companion's perfidy, and she attacks her at the mine. Greg is forced to dynamite a mine shaft, thus flooding the tunnel in which Ida and Ora are struggling; Ida saves Ora, and Greg comes to the rescue. Greg repents and is reunited with his wife.
