Synopsis

Paul Normand, a New York internal revenue clerk, rents a cottage in New Jersey for the summer and invites his fiancée, Flora Mingasson, and her father, who also happens to be his employer, to be his guests for the weekend. Also visiting Paul is Felix, an artist who has befriended him. While driving in the vicinity of Paul's cottage, Benjamine Downey, the happy-go-lucky daughter of a wealthy chocolate manufacturer, suffers a blowout and requests shelter for the night. The next morning, Flora and her father arrive to find Benjamine serving breakfast to Paul and Felix and angrily leave before Paul can explain. Realizing that Benjamine has fallen in love with Paul, Felix conspires to bring the two together, and when Flora learns that the rich girl has been ardently wooing her fiancé, she breaks the engagement and Paul loses his job. Tragedy is averted, however, when Paul realizes that he is in love with the "richest girl."
