Synopsis
John Strong, a fearless and boasting Nova Scotia sea captain, weds Lysette DeJon, a refined and dreamy young woman. During his long absences at sea, Lysette becomes increasingly attached to John's younger and more poetic brother, Neil. Judith Nyte, a dark-browed village girl, sees Neil and Lysette in an embrace and tells John of his wife's love for his brother. John hardens his heart against both of them. During a storm at sea, Neil is imperiled, and John, at Lysette's pleading, rescues him. John promises Lysette her freedom and sets sail, intending to return, in time, for Judith.
