Synopsis

Neal Abbott, a drifter, saves the day by prescribing a treatment for cafe owner Duffy Thompson's prize racehorse, and later at the cafe he meets Patricia, an entertainer. He explains to her the story of his downfall--his training as a surgeon, his first operation, then the automobile collision that occurs on a motor trip with his mother. When his mother requires emergency surgery, he falters, and she dies as a result. Later, Duffy is jealously enraged and starts a fight with Neal, throwing him down the stairs. When Neal is leaving with Patricia, Duffy is about to shoot him, and Patricia--in turn--shoots Duffy; she tells Neal that she actually loved Duffy and had used Neal only to make him jealous. Neal, however, operates on Duffy and saves his life, at which point Patricia confesses her true love for Neal.
