Synopsis

Barry O'Connor, called the Prince of Avenue A for his foppish appearance, is the son of political leader Patrick O'Connor. O'Connor is supporting William Tompkins for mayor, but when Tompkins' daughter Mary ejects Barry from a party at the Tompkins' house, the elder O'Connor becomes enraged and the candidate, fearful of losing the election, insists that Mary escort Barry to the district ball. When Tompkins' rival in the election, Edgar Jones, insults Mary at the ball, Barry protects her. The incident forces the girl to realize that her escort is more than a fop, and the two fall in love.
