Synopsis

Grant Newburg, an immigration officer, is dispatched to uncover the men behind the smuggling of Chinese across the Mexican border. While Newburg is scouting, he comes upon Estelle, a stranger who has lost her companions in the canyon; he sets up a camp and steals some food for her, but he is captured and bound by Bates, the leader of the smugglers, who knows of his mission. With the aid of Estelle he escapes and returns with assistance; meanwhile, Bates threatens her, unaware that she is the ward of Halloway, his employer. Newburg returns in an airplane, leaps into a stream, and swims to the place where Estelle is being held captive. Estelle is rescued; and though her guardian is arrested for smuggling, Newburg agrees to care for her until his term is served.
