Synopsis

Roscoe Paine owns the lane that runs through the Cape Cod fishing village in which he lives, but he allows anyone to use it out of gratitude for the many kindnesses shown to him and his invalid mother. Therefore, Roscoe refuses James Colton's offer to buy the property until he desperately needs the money. Roscoe and Colton go out on a launch to close the deal; and Victor Carver, who is in the village to get information for Colton's Wall Street rival, causes the boat to explode. Mabel Colton rows to their rescue; Roscoe makes the financial decisions needed to save Colton's stock market investments while the financier is unconscious; Carver confesses his villainy; Colton bestows his new property on the town and offers Roscoe a fine position; Mrs. Paine is suddenly cured; and romance blooms between Roscoe and Mabel.
