Synopsis

Dissatisfied with his father's old-fashioned business methods, the ambitious David Clary leaves his post at Clary's Emporium in Littletown and moves to New York. Although he writes his father that he is an executive at Gimbel's, David is only a tie clerk, and when a showgirl steals his watch, he is discharged. John Clary, however, believes his son's letters and asks him to come home and manage the failing Emporium. David schedules a big sale at the store, complete with a corset model and a brass band, but the store continues to lose money. Next, the showgirl arrives in town asking David to call, but when he arrives, her manager, posing as her outraged husband, threatens to blackmail the unsuspecting young man. He is saved by the corset model, who recognizes the blackmailer as her own husband, and soon afterwards, Mr. Adler, a department store president, offers David a large sum for the Emporium. David is made the store manager, which greatly impresses his sweetheart Katherine.
