Brief Synopsis

A gang of bad guys menace a feller's gal. She hides in a freight car and a misstep sends the otherwise-empty train out of the station with the lever pushed to full speed. As the train gains speed, the captive's boyfriend must board the runaway train, repel the pursing gang, get his girl out of the box car, and somehow get the two of them to safety. Tunnels, a water tower, a steep grade, and a frayed rope complicate the hero's task.

Synopsis

Virginia Craig, sole heiress to the Craig estate, leaves home when Silas Scott, the dishonest trustee of the estate, tries to force her to marry his worthless son. Monty, The Boy, an employee in Virginia's factory, rescues her from a ruffian's insult when she takes refuge from a storm. Monty persuades Virginia to occupy his room for the night while he seeks lodging elsewhere; later he rents an automobile and takes the girl on a calamitous ride. Meanwhile, the trustee, alarmed at Virginia's interest in Monty, takes her back to the mansion and discharges the boy. It is arranged for Monty to appear to be the leader of a gang that lures Virginia into a trap; but she and Monty are pursued by the villains through a railroad yard and a freight train. Through Monty's wits and courage, they elude the pursuers and halt the train.
