Synopsis
Berenice Summers, a plain, bespectacled girl, gains freedom from her uncle's Texas ranch when oil is discovered on his property, and she invades an eastern finishing school, there blossoming from an unnoticed wallflower into a stunning beauty. Berenice and her friend encounter the school principal in the lobby of a hotel where they are to meet Paul Carroll for a theater date and invent a story about visiting Alice's parents, Judge and Mrs. Altwold. To make their bluff good, they enter the room of Ralph Ames of the Secret Service; Berenice introduces the stranger as her husband, and the girls leave with the judge and his wife. Through a series of coincidences, Berenice and Ames meet at the judge's house, with resulting entanglements. Berenice sleeps on the roof, is chased by a policeman, and is ultimately united with Paul Carroll in marriage.
