When Rosenblatt raises their rent, an enraged Hannah mutilates the walls, an act for which she must stand trial. Lawyer David Kaplan, who is Rosenblatt's nephew and Sara's sweetheart, successfully defends Hannah, marries Sara, and takes the Levin family out of the ghetto and into his suburban home.
