Synopsis

After leaving a remote area of South America, José, a dreamer, comes to Hollywood seeking fame and fortune. Having taken the first step, José struggles to find his way in the movie business, and because he resembles a particular Hollywood star, he is given a chance by Helen Gordon, the hard-boiled head of a studio. As Helen's discovery, José becomes a success, while Helen, who has fallen in love with him, becomes jealous of the attention he receives from Alice, a blonde actress who tries to learn Spanish to communicate her passion to him. Eventually, José's love affair with Alice puts an end to his career. Defeated, José, who enjoyed for a moment the sweet sensation of success, returns to his country, older and completely disillusioned.
