Synopsis

When Barlow, an amorous yachtsman, becomes too demanding, Daisy Smith, a proud woman of easy virtue, abandons ship off the island of Luna and swims to shore, where she meets Jim Curtis, an alcoholic American beachcomber. Johnson, the rough island superintendent, quickly attempts to force Daisy to submit to his foul embraces by threatening to deport her for having no visible means of support; when she is unable to find work, Daisy gives the drunken Jim $10 to marry her. When Jim sobers up the following day, he regains his sense of pride and goes to work loading steamers on the docks. Johnson later abducts him, and Daisy comes to his rescue. Jim and Daisy leave the island together, searching for a new start and a better tomorrow.
