Synopsis

Dick Arlington's fondness for gambling so angers his uncle Henry that the old man threatens to disinherit him. Shortly after they quarrel, Henry is found dead, and although Dick is not guilty, he fears that the evidence is against him and flees on a freight train. In the country, he meets and later marries Margaret Hammersley, who believes in her husband's innocence and resolves to help him clear his name. Following their return to the city, Margaret entertains Tracy, the family lawyer, while Norcross, Arlington's secretary, captures and imprisons Dick. By telling Tracy that she married Dick only for his money, Margaret induces him to confess that it was he who killed Henry, fearing that Arlington would have him arrested for stealing certain of the family's securities. Norcross reveals that he is a private detective and releases Dick.
