Synopsis

Helene Palmer and her husband Orrin have grown apart, and Helene becomes infatuated with a young bachelor, Edward Wadsworth. With the outbreak of World War I, Orrin and Edward enlist, and Helene works as a Red Cross nurse in a small French town. When Edward is wounded on a dangerous scouting mission near the town, Orrin carries him to safety. Then, during the night, the town is taken by the Germans, and Orrin rescues Helene just as she is about to be overpowered by a German officer. From his deathbed, Edward, morally strengthened from his life as a soldier, reunites the married couple and soon after, peace is declared.
