Synopsis

Bob Cantfield, a freshman at Carver College, averts the hazing committee with the aid of his tin lizzie but is chagrined when the car falls apart while he is escorting Vivian Saunders to her dormitory. Bob is assigned to room with Jim Halloran, and after an initial scrap they become pals. Bob agrees to escort the sister of Sampson Saunders to a prom, and the evening launches a romance between Bob and Vivian, with the faithful Jim as a secret rival. As Bob becomes the hero of the football team, Jim's jealousy and envy cause him to deliberately trip Bob on the practice field, causing him injury; later, conscience-stricken, Jim drowns his grief in drink and is knocked out by Bob in a confrontation. In spite of his injury, Bob scores a spectacular touchdown and wins a game for Carver. At the hospital Jim confesses, and Bob, consoled by Vivian, forgives his friend.
