Synopsis

At the court of King Ferdinand VII of Spain, the Duke of Arrogan [ sic ], Prime Minister, carries on a liaison with the Countess Veya, a climber seeking favor in high places. The countess, jealous of the duke's wife, plots to disgrace her in the eyes of the king by having Córdova, a political prisoner, hidden in the duchess' boudoir; as a result, both victims are exiled to Porto Rico. The duchess, swearing vengeance on all men, becomes cruel and ruthless, amassing great wealth on her plantation, while Córdova gains notoriety as El Blanco, a pillaging bandit, who begins an affair with the duchess and prevents a riot of the workers on her rancho. Laska, her daughter, commanded to wed the dissolute Prince Treván, escapes to join her mother upon the death of her father. After a battle with the bandits, who have captured Laska, the duchess is reunited with her daughter and Córdova.
