Synopsis
Little Dolly Paulton works as a maid in the home of the wealthy Matthew Wedgestone to help her father Tom, who is in Wedgestone's employ, make ends meet. Dr. Trevick, who along with Wedgestone's manager Gilbert Bolton plans to ruin the irascible old man, fakes a smallpox epidemic and has Wedgestone and his household quarantined. During their confinement, Dolly and Wedgestone become friends, and when the youngster discovers the plot against him, the two work out a plan of escape. Dolly sneaks away to her father with a note authorizing Paulton to assume charge of Wedgestone's affairs, and Paulton has Trevick and Bolton arrested. Paulton is rewarded with a promotion and a deed to the Wedgestone house.
