Synopsis

Jason, a naïve inventor raised in the country, leaves his sweetheart Rose and goes to New York to sell his ideas, but is promptly robbed of his money and his clothing. On the street he meets Bainge, a self-proclaimed "philanthropist" who offers to assist the country boy. Bainge advises Jason to answer a newspaper ad placed by a promoter named Regelman. As Jason is discussing his invention in Regelman's office, however, Bainge, accompanied by several detectives, enters the room and arrests the crooked promoter. Jason, confused, hides out in a local dive, where he meets Rose, who has come to New York to find him. Bainge, actually a detective, tries to sell Jason's plans to a legitimate promoter, but the latter, imagining that he is again being hoodwinked, gives Bainge's partner a black eye. At the police station, everything is explained to Jason, after which the detective writes him a large check. In their new limousine, Jason and Rose return to the country to settle down.
