Synopsis

With his understanding manner policeman Donald Dorgan wins respect on his tough beat in "Little Hell." He tries to help Terry Rafferty "go straight" so that he may receive Rudolph Kugler's permission to marry Effie, but Terry gets into a fight and is sentenced to prison. Though released from the force as too old, Dorgan continues to walk his beat and keep the peace without being observed by his replacement, whose methods are harsher. Finally, Terry is released and wins Kugler's approval, while Dorgan is reinstated with promotion to captain.
