Synopsis
Female gunfighter Colonel Billy is feared and respected by the men of California mining camp Rattlesnake Gulch, while the women shun her because of her reputed promiscuity during the gold rush days. When actor Gerald Morton, his wife Mabel, and their baby arrive from San Francisco with Albert Atherton, a preacher, the townsfolk, for a joke, send Atherton to board with Billy, who now loves prospector Faro Bill. While Atherton reforms Billy, news of Morton's gold strike reaches San Francisco. After the gambler Arbuthnot arrives with love letters to discredit Mabel and a plot to kill Morton, Arbuthnot's cohort, Pizen Ike, insults Mabel and Morton challenges him to a duel. For Morton's safety, Billy insists that she take his place. In the midst of the duel, Bill, whom Ike had thought he killed, appears with proof that Ike killed another miner. Ike flees to a cliff and is shot by Bill's friend, Gin Mill Jack. Arbuthnot clears Mabel's name and leaves, and Atherton, who discovers that Bill is his long-lost brother, marries Bill and Billy.
