Synopsis

Parisian society girl Cleo de Bromsart, who is engaged to Maurice Chenet, is bored with her life and decides to accept the invitation of Prince Selm to join his yachting party. The cruise ends in disaster, and Cleo is stranded on a desert island with two sailors. One sailor drowns in quicksand, and Cleo kills the other when he tries to rape her. Several weeks later, Raft, a derelict, is washed ashore. He finds her ill and nurses her back to health. Raft effects their rescue by overpowering a gang of Chinese seal poachers. Back in Paris, given the choice between her fiancé, whom her parents approve, and Raft, whom Cleo has grown to respect, she decides not to marry either.
