Synopsis

Barbara Frietchie, daughter of a patriotic family of the South, falls in love with Trumbull, her brother's friend from the North. When war is declared, Trumbull returns to the North and leads a force that captures Frederickstown (Maryland), where the Frietchies live. Although their love overcomes all differences, the Confederate advance prevents their marriage. After 4 years of discouragement and despair, the lovers are reunited.
