Synopsis

Percy Ashfield and Mary Bowing, an American heiress, are about to be married in Duncraggen Towers Castle in Scotland, though Mary's father is opposed to the marriage. While Percy is displaying the family pearls, Pansy, a strange woman, bursts in with a child in her arms and declares that Percy is the child's father by a secret marriage. Percy denies the charge; Dr. Strang arrives and declares the woman insane; then a supposed inspector from Scotland Yard enters saying he has been hired to guard the jewels, but Percy discovers his duplicity. Ultimately, the real detective appears to explain that he has substituted fake jewels for the real ones, and that the doctor, the woman, and the pseudodetective are notorious thieves. Bowing decides that Percy has proved himself and is worthy of his daughter.
