Synopsis
Eleven-year-old Scout Bozell's dream is to join his new school's Safety Patrol Team, the Safeties, but he learns that the gang and its leader Kent focus on ways to bully money and possessions away from the fearful student body. The Safeties also have ties to Mrs. Day, the school's cafeteria lady and the dimwitted Bert Miller, the janitor, who are involved in a series of thefts at the school. Scout is framed for a crime he didn't commit and he stumbles upon Mrs. Day and Miller's scheme to take off with the funds from the annual Fall Ball. Scout and his friends, including Hannah, the girl of his dreams, attempt to foil the thieves' plan and restore safety to Laurelview Middle School.
