Synopsis
The Kid From Nowhere is a intellectually disabled youngster who becomes involved in the Special Olympics when coach Beau Bridges (also the film's director) convinces the boy's divorced mother (Susan Saint James), who has insulated her son from the world, that the physical training will give him renewed motivation. Ricky Wittman, a victim of Down's Syndrome, makes his acting debut as the boy. Actress/writer Judy Farrell, wife of Mike Farrell (M*A*S*H's B.J. Hunnicutt), authored the teleplay, which included a role for her son, Michael, as well as two of Beau Bridges' children from his wife, Juli. Olympics star Rafer Johnson plays himself.
