Synopsis
A television movie about the late director of the FBI, J. Edgar Hoover. The film follows Hoover from his childhood in a working-class section of Washington at the turn of the century to his final days during the social and political turbulence of the '60s and '70s. The factors that helped him to build the FBI into the nation's premiere law enforcement agency, and his success in expanding its powers while consolidating his own, are examined in this biographical portrait.
