Synopsis

Barbara, a New York con-woman in debt to a mobster, finds an easy mark in Bob, a humble, small-town bachelor who, unbeknownst to him, is about to inherit $100,000. Barbara assumes a different identity and moves to the small town of Pascagoula, Mississippi, in order to romance and marry Bob. Barbara, now calling herself Nancy, gets a job teaching school and eventually Bobby and she marry, but her plans are foiled when she actually falls in love and can no longer steal his money. She leaves town, on the run from the mob, but they find her and a gunfight erupts, in which it appears that Barbara/Nancy is shot and killed. Bob is devastated, and leaves town with his inheritance. Soon Nancy is with him, having conspired together to fake her death.
