Synopsis
"Thanksgiving Prayer" is an acerbic, darkly comic look at American history. Images are layered over William Burroughs reading of his poem. "Gotham" is a rapid montage of gangster and crime footage culled from Hollywood "B" movies, set against the frenetic, thoroughly American music of Zorn. "Too Darn Hot" is a segment of the "Red, Hot and Blue" compilation of Cole Porter songs, performed by the group Erasure. "Pull Your Head to the Moon" addresses the difficulties in communicating painful emotions between generations, drawing on the experiences of performance artist Deavid Rousseve's Creole grandmother, who grew up in the South in the early 20th century, and includes Rousseve's feelings about numerous friends dying of AIDS. "Sharp Rocks" is a Native American short.
