Biography
John Zorn brought his musical talents to a variety of films over the course of his Hollywood career. Zorn's early music mostly appeared in comedies like the Sheila Dabney film "She Must Be Seeing Things" (1988) and the Ghasem Ebrahimian film "The Distribution of Lead" (1989). In addition to his music, Zorn appeared in the Fred Frith musical "Herliche Wilkommen" (1990). In the nineties, Zorn's music continued to appear on the silver screen, including in films like the thriller "Thieves Quartet" (1994) with Phillip Edward Van Lear, the drama "Zigrail" (1995) with Andre Charbelois and "Ecstacy No Namida: Chi-In" (1997) with Tomoki Taguchi. Zorn's music was also featured in the documentary "Trembling Before G-d" (2001) with Steven Greenberg, the Stan Brakhage documentary "In the Mirror of Maya Deren" (2003) and "Secret Lives" (2003) starring Aviva Slesin. His music was also featured in "Invitation to a Suicide" (2004) and the documentary "Hiding and Seeking" (2004) with Oren Rudavsky. Zorn most recently appeared on "Schmatta: Rags to Riches to Rags" (HBO, 2009-2010).
