Synopsis

Summer 1967 in Poland. For 12-year-olds Pawel, Piotr, Szymek and Elka, this will prove the most extraordinary summer of their lives. They meet a mysterious Jewish boy called Dawid Weiser. Dawid, a highly imaginative child, has discovered an old munitions camp. Dawid is planning something rather special. Using the old munitions, he treats his friends to a series of demonstrations of explosions. However, during the preparations for one particularly spectacular explosion, Dawid suddenly disappears without trace. The four children never discover what happened to Dawid; in fact, the affair will remain a mystery to them their whole lives long. 30 years after the events of that day, Pawel makes the trip back home. He still cannot forget Weiser's mysterious disappearance. Who was this boy? A cunning trickster? A clever magician? Or is there something more to this? He looks up his old friends and, in discussions, tries to get to the bottom of what really happened that fateful day.
