Synopsis

Rio is partying in the streets in preparation for the millennium, but Joao is languishing in jail. He murders his cellmate and escapes in the confusion, taking to the streets in an attempt to find the man who betrayed him. Meanwhile, Maria discovers that her lover has left her with no warning. Devastated, she breaks her phone, and then wanders the streets in a daze, looking for a pay phone to call him from.
