Synopsis
Harry Ross is a private investigator who lives in the garage of Jack and Catherine Ames, two movie star friends. Harry does odd jobs for them in exchange for lodging. Tension arises when Harry begins to be attracted to Catherine and Jack's cancer returns. When Harry attempts to deliver a package to a woman at Jack's behest, he encounters a man who's been shot, who then, in turn, shoots at Harry before dying. It turns out that the dead man had been investigating the death of Catherine's first husband, a case presumed to have been suicide but never actually solved.
