Synopsis

Julia is 22 years old and has seen her share of failed theater auditions. She receives as post card from her old boyfriend Mark who has just finished law school, realized his true love for her, and wants to start a life together in Spokane. She hitches a ride to Spokane and on the way meets Stephanie, a middle-aged woman who makes ceramic cows. Stephanie is headed to a small town outside of Seattle to deliver the cows to a dairy so Julia grabs a ride with her. Julia accidentally breaks one of the cows and, out of guilt, travels to Las Vegas to get a replacement. Once there, however, she finds out the dairy no longer wants the cows. Now stranded in Vegas, Julia calls her friends in Boston only to discover she is to be the maid of honor in a wedding. She detours to Boston by catching a lift with a band and after the wedding, accepts a ride from a guy named Mac, finally ending up in Mark's Spokane law offices wrestling with the decision to stay or continue with a life of adventure.
