Synopsis

Ida May Harper is envious of her friend Pettie Wilson, whose letters from New York make Ida want to leave her smalltown milieu. On one of her frequent visits to the drugstore where her boyfriend, Joe Pond, works, Ida May is picked up by Mrs. Willet, who is driving her New York guests, and their talk of New York only convinces her that she is wasting her sweetness on the desert air. She accepts an invitation from the Willets for dinner but discourages Joe from attending because of his improper dress. Joe buys a charm book and coaches the Harpers, who stage a houseparty for Ida May's benefit with humorous results. When Joe becomes passionate with Ida May, then threatens to leave for New York, the lovers are happily reconciled; and Pettie returns home to disclose the tragedy of life in the city.
