Biography
Ashley Johnson was a prolific TV and voice-over actress who was best known for playing Chrissy Seaver on the final two seasons of the popular ABC sitcom "Growing Pains" (ABC, 1985-1992). Born in Camarillo, California, Johnson moved to Michigan with her family before her first birthday, where she would live throughout the majority of her childhood. She began acting professionally at the age of 6 when she was cast as the toddler Chrissy Seaver on ABC's "Growing Pains." Johnson played Seaver on 48 episodes of the series, which ended its seven-season run in 1992. After "Growing Pains" went off the air, Johnson continued racking up television roles. Throughout the 90s she appeared as a castmember on several TV shows, including "Phenom" (ABC, 1993-94), "All-American Girl" (ABC, 1994-95), and "Kelly Kelly" (The WB, 1998). In addition to her screen acting, Johnson also worked as a prominent voice-over actress on "Recess" (ABC/UPN, 1997-2003), "Teen Titans" (Cartoon Network/The WB, 2003-2006), and "Ben 10: Alien Force" (Cartoon Network, 2008-10). As she matured into a young woman, Johnson continued to work steadily as an actor, despite the Hollywood stigma of being a former child star. By the early 2010s she had nabbed roles in the films "The Help" (2011) and "The Avengers" (2012), and was also picking up recurring parts on TV shows like "The Killing" (AMC, 2011-14) and "Spooked" (Hulu, 2014). With her acting career having steadily gained steam since the age of 6, Johnson landed her most prominent TV role since "Growing Pains" in 2015 on the NBC series "Blindspot" (NBC, 2015- ). Johnson played the forensic specialist Patterson on the Emmy-nominated series.
