Biography

Australian director and producer Kevin Dowling began his career directing features with future stars Russell Crowe and Angelina Jolie before moving into television series. Dowling's first feature was the light gay drama "The Sum of Us," with Russell Crowe as the gay son of a single father. Dowling followed up with the quirky romantic comedy "Mojave Moon," starring a still up-and-coming Angelina Jolie. Moving into TV movies and series, he directed multiple episodes of "Ed," the sitcom about a city lawyer returning to his hometown to run the local bowling alley. Perhaps with a penchant for the spiritual, he repeatedly helmed both "Touched by an Angel" and "Joan of Arcadia." Not losing touch with baser elements, he has led a number of regional crime dramas, including the Washington D.C.-set "The District," as well as "L.A. Dragnet" and "CSI: NY." Dowling has shown his range of subject matter in these choices, as well as in his work on such diverse projects as "The Mentalist," "Heroes," and "Army Wives." He has also produced series, including the New Orleans crime drama "K-Ville," and "Valentine," the romantic comedy where Greek Gods play matchmakers.
