Sandra Gould
Biography
Biography
The character of a nosy or bothersome neighbor has long been a staple of TV comedy, and for five years on "Bewitched," Sandra Gould played that part to perfection. Though she never won any awards during the time of her run as Gladys Kravitz, she later received a number of posthumous awards from TV Land, proving just how enduring her role on the show had become. Gould's first TV break came a decade earlier, on the NBC comedy "I Married Joan," about the wife of a city judge played by Jim Backus. Her seven-episode run as Mildred Webster helped solidify her reputation as a solid small-screen comedienne, and from there she went on to collaborate with such comedy legends as Lucille Ball, Danny Thomas, and Jack Benny. In the case of Benny, it was a well-worn partnership, as she had previously worked with the comedian for 15 years on radio. Throughout her career, Gould also played bit parts in various features and TV dramas, but comedy was her bread and butter till the very end.
