Biography
Television producer Steven Felder may be best known for his work on the popular crime drama "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," but his career began in film, where he worked as a second assistant director on Jonathan Demme's Roy Scheider-fronted thriller, "Last Embrace." After working in that capacity on a string of forgettable features, Felder stepped into television as the first assistant director of the fashion-forward crime drama "Miami Vice" in 1985. He had also been building his producer credibility by serving as associate producer on a couple of made-for-TV movies. In 1991, he worked as an associate producer on the Joe Pesci comedy "The Super," about a snarky landlord who is court-ordered to live in the slums he created. Two years later he earned his first co-producer credit on acclaimed director Anthony Minghella's winsome romantic comedy, "Mr. Wonderful." Felder stepped up to a full-on producer credit with a string of TV movies. Then, after co-producing the poorly received Denis Leary/Elizabeth Hurley romantic comedy, "Bad Boy" (also known as "Dawg"), Felder returned to television where he has worked on "CSI" since 2002 as a unit production manager, while working his way up the producer ranks.
