Biography
Born in Surrey, England, actor Tom Felton began his career acting in U.K. commercials. In addition to his work as an actor, Felton began singing as part of a choir when he was just 7 years old. A talented vocalist, he was offered a place in the prestigious Guilford Cathedral Choir. At the age of 8 he landed his first television part, guest starring on an episode of the teen espionage drama "Bugs" (BBC 1995-98). His very first film role came in "The Borrowers" (1997), an adaptation of the popular children's novels by Mary Norton starring John Goodman and Jim Broadbent. Felton next appeared in "Anna and the King" (1999), playing Louis, the son of widowed schoolteacher Anna Leonowens, played by Jodie Foster. But Felton's breakthrough role came when he was cast as sneering antagonist Draco Malfoy in the highly anticipated "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" (2001). Prior to being cast as Malfoy, Potter's white-blond nemesis, Felton had auditioned for the roles of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Felton appeared in all all of the subsequent Harry Potter movies, which significantly raised his profile in Hollywood. Felton followed up his work on the Harry Potter series with supporting roles in the blockbuster "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" (2011) and the art-house period piece "Belle" (2013). His first major television work came with a supporting role in the American cable procedural drama "Murder in the First" (TNT 2014-16), starring Taye Diggs and Kathleen Robertson.
