Seminal synthesizer ensemble formed in psychadelic 1967, who achieved cult followings in Europe, Japan and the US with a a succession of ethereal, electronically-driven albums in the 1970s.
Their atmospheric conjurings made them ideal composers for film. Begining with William Friedkin's "Sorcerer" (1977), Tangerine Dream has contributed either scores or songs to such notable films as as Michael Mann's "Thief" (1981), Michelangelo Antonioni's "Identification of a Woman" (1982), Andrei Konchalovski's "Shy People" and Kathryn Bigelow's "Near Dark" (both 1987).
