Worked at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia, first as technical writer and later as computer analyst

Introduced popular recurring character Dr. Kay Scarpetta (Chief Medical Examiner for the state of Virginia) in crime novel <i>Postmortem</i>

1999

Made TV executive producing and writing debut with ABC movie "ATF"

2002

Published non-fiction book <i>Portrait of a Killer: Jack the Ripper - Case Closed</i>

Executive produced two Lifetime films based on novels "At Risk" and "The Front"; also made cameos in both as a watiress
