Since the late 1980s, actor Alexis Cruz has taken on a variety of roles, including everything from children's programming to crime dramas to science fiction. Cruz attended Boston University, where he built up his acting chops by majoring in Independent Technical Theatre. By the late 1980s/early 1990s, Cruz was taking on bit parts on such renowned television programs as "The Cosby Show" and "Sesame Street," as well as a part in the comedy-romance film "The Pick-up Artist." But in 1994, he received one of his best-known roles, Skaara, in the sci-fi adventure film "Stargate" (starring Kurt Russell and James Spader). A few years later, Cruz would reprise the Skaara character in the television series based on the movie, "Stargate SG-1." During the late 1990s/early 21st century, Cruz landed several extended roles on other television programs, including "Touched by an Angel," "American Family," and "Shark," and would receive several ALMA Award nominations for his work.
