Biography
Cinematographer Lowell Peterson has over 30 years' experience in television. He began working as a camera assistant in 1976, landing his first major gig in 1979 on the cop drama series "Hawaii Five-O." In the '80s he worked on several series as an assistant before becoming a camera operator in 1985. After working on 47 episodes of the sci-fi series "Star Trek: The Next Generation," he transitioned to film as a camera operator in 1990. The same year he became the cinematographer for the soap opera "Knots Landing," followed by short stints as DP on "Hotel Malibu" and "Second Chances." Continuously building his portfolio in the '90s, he was the cinematographer for hit series such as the superhero action series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," the crime drama "Profiler," and the dark comedy series "Six Feet Under." Peterson received his first Director of Photography credit for a film as the second-unit DP on the comedy "Bedazzled," followed by the cult-comedy "Bubble Boy," starring Jake Gyllenhaal. In 2004 Peterson took on a new challenge as the director of photography for the blue screen unit of "Spider-Man 2." On television Peterson found a home on the comedy series "Desperate Housewives," acting as the cinematographer for over 73 episodes starting in 2005.
