Biography
Barbara Mandrell was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. She starred in the NBC variety series "Barbara Mandrell & The Mandrell Sisters." She also appeared in the TV movie "Murder in Music City" (NBC, 1978-79). She appeared in a number of television specials, including "The Wayne Newton Special" (1974-75), "The Johnny Cash Christmas Special" (CBS, 1976-77) and "Playboy's Playmate Party" (ABC, 1976-77). She also appeared in "Country Night of the Stars I" (NBC, 1977-78) and "Lucy Comes to Nashville" (CBS, 1978-79). Mandrell was nominated for a Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Comedy Or Musical Golden Globe Award for "Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters" in 1981. She also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "Super Night at the Super Bowl" (CBS, 1986-87) and "Bob Hope's High-Flying Birthday Extravaganza" (NBC, 1986-87). In the nineties, Mandrell lent her talents to projects like "24th Annual Dove Awards" (Family Channel Studios, 1992-93), "From the Heart: A Tribute to Lawrence Welk and the American Dream" (PBS, 1992-93) and "Hats Off to Minnie Pearl: America Honors Minnie Pearl" (The Nashville Network, 1992-93). Her credits also expanded to "The Ultimate Driving Challenge" (CBS, 1992-93) and "Sunset Beach" (NBC, 1996-2000). Most recently, Mandrell appeared on "The 40th Annual CMA Awards" (ABC, 2006-07). Mandrell's husband was Ken Dudney and Mandrell had two children.
