Biography
Though he started out as an assistant director on a number of films, John T. Kretchmer is best known for his work as a television director. From the late 1970s through the mid-1990s, Kretchmer was an assistant director on such big budget Hollywood films as "The In-Laws," "Baby Boom," and "The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!." All of these movies were critical and audience hits. In 1994, Kretchmer began to direct television series, beginning with the underwater sci-fi show "SeaQuest 2032" He then moved on to direct a number of episodes of the hit series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys," "The Twilight Zone," and the popular witchcraft-centric series "Charmed" featuring Alyssa Milano and Shannen Doherty. Kretchmer directed seventeen episodes of Charmed from 1998 to 2006. In 2005, Kretchmer began to work on popular CBS series "Veronica Mars," about a California teenager who works as an amateur detective. The show was popular and gained a cult following very quickly. Kretchmer directed 14 episodes of the series, which ran from 2004 to 2007. Immediately after his stint on " Veronica Mars," Ketchmer began work on the popular USA series "Burn Notice," as well as the Lifetime armed-forces drama "Army Wives."
