She also appeared in the TV movie "The Homecoming" (CBS, 1971-72). She worked in series television while getting her start in acting, including a part on "Saturday Night Live" (NBC, 1975-). She also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "Carnegie Hall Salutes the Jazz Masters" (PBS, 1993-94) and "1994 St. Lucia Jazz Festival" (BET, 1994-95). She also worked in television during these years, including a part on "The Cosby Show" (NBC, 1984-1992). Her music was featured in films like "The Parent Trap" (1998) featuring Lindsay Lohan and the Kevin Spacey smash hit dramedy "American Beauty" (1999).
